The Balally Players production of 'The Great Hunger', directed by Chairman Geoffrey O'Keeffe, in the finals of the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival 2009 at the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone on Wednesday 6 May. The festival final dates are between 1 and 9 May.

The overall results in the RTÉ All Ireland Drama Festival 2009 are published on the website of the Amateur Drama Council of Ireland (ADCI).

The Balally Players production of 'The Great Hunger' won first place in two Ulster Festivals and that qualified the group to compete in the AUDF Ulster Finals in The Market Place Theatre, Armagh on Monday 11 May. Full details are on the website of the Association of Ulster Drama Festivals (AUDF).

As part of the DLR Events Summer Season, Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Council presents CENTRE STAGE, a FREE open-air showcase of drama and music on Sunday May 10th and Sunday May 17th 2009. With four contrasting shows each week, the festival promises an eclectic mix of free outdoor performances against the stunning backdrop of Cabinteely House.

On Sunday May 17th at 4pm, BALALLY PLAYERS present a scene from HOW THE OTHER HALF LOVES by Alan Ayckbourn directed by Karen Carleton. This excerpt is taken from the balally Players production in teh Mill Theatre in March. It is an ingenious funny play which contrasts the lives and loves, the passion and panic, of three very different married couples as the audience eavesdrop on two disastrous, but hilarious, dinner parties.

Internalising - what does it mean?

Being truthful, making your character believable. How do you do that?

This is a must-do workshop for all actors.

Each Wednesday workshop will begin at 7.30 with a cup of tea/coffee and end around 10p.m. There is a small charge of 5 per paid up member. Those who
haven't paid up this year will be welcome at a fee of 10 per session.

The tutor is Paraic McIntyre, currently working at the Abbey on the new Tom Murphy play. Paraic is artistic director of the Livin Dred Theatre Company. An accomplished actor himself, he is a first class tutor.

Members of Balally Players take in the beauty of Carlingford Lough, Warrenpoint and Rostrevor - look at the wonders of the Mountains of Mourne! A stop off at one of the many fine restaurants along the way will allow everyone to enjoy some great food and ambience!

Pick Up 9.30am - Departing 10.00am sharp

Venue of Pick Up - To be confirmed

Cost of the Bus - �5.00 but subject to adjustment (subsidised by the Group)

Meal - Unfortunately, there is no such thing as a free lunch so you will have to pay for what you eat!

This workshop is led by Eric Weitz, head of acting studies at TCD, the Samuel Beckett and tutor on the full time Gaiety School of Acting course.
