Pizzazz

Clare Drama Festival, in association with Scariff Bay Community Radio, hosted an inaugural Radio Play Festival during March 2021. As was the case throughout the world, all live performance was shut down because of the COVID-19 pandemic, so Balally Players took up this opportunity to continue to perform, albeit in a very different way to its usual on stage shows, by entering for the Festival.

The organisers saw the Festival as an opportunity for groups and festivals to do something innovative during the COVID-10 restrictions and to promote the amateur drama movement in Ireland.

'Pizzazz was first performed as part of the Dublin Theatre Festival on 5 October 1983 with 'A View form the Obelisk' and 'Roman Fever' also by Hugh Leonard.

Scariff Bay Community Radio is licenced by the Broadcasting Authority of Ireland (www.bai.ie), and broadcasts live on 88.3FM and 92.7FM to East Clare at the weekends and is available worldwide on the TuneIn radio app. It is also one of over 30 Community Radio Stations in Ireland who are members of CRAOL (www.craol.ie). All these stations are volunteer-led and not for profit community organisations.
