This festival, which is now firmly fixed in the calendars of all Bray theatre-goers, is now in its 33rd year. The Chairman and Committee are delighted to welcome audiences to Mermaid for what promises to be another excellent year of one acts plays. The festival was founded by the late Fred Lee to encourage amateur drama in the Dublin/Wicklow region.

Event Title: Old Saybrook
Where: Mermaid Arts Centre, Bray, Co Wicklow
Wednesday, 27 January 2010

"Delightful one-act play set in and around New York, in which sophisticated characters confound one another in ways only Woody Allen could imagine. Old Saybrook is a humorous, and insightful play about infidelity! The characters, archetypal New Yorkers, all start out talking innocently enough, but soon the most unexpected things happen or are revealed and the audience enjoys every minute of it (though not all the characters do). The play dramatizes Allen's continuing preoccupation with people who rationalise their actions, hide what they're doing, and inevitably slip into sexual deception -all of it revealed in Allen's quintessentially pell-mell dialogue". -- Review
